Agartala, Jan 31: 4 individuals, together with two ladies, had been killed and two others critically injured after a 12-wheeler items truck collided head-on with a passenger auto-rickshaw on the Assam–Agartala Nationwide Freeway in Tripura’s Unakoti district on Friday.
The accident occurred at Sidangchhara beneath the jurisdiction of the Kumarghat police station when the goods-laden truck, heading in the direction of Agartala, rammed into the auto-rickshaw travelling in the direction of Pecharthal.
Fireplace service personnel rescued six occupants, together with the auto-rickshaw driver, from the mangled automobile and rushed them to the Kumarghat sub-divisional hospital.
The deceased have been recognized as Bhaskar Goswami (47), Kanchana Chakma (55), Hari Shankar Debatrata (50), and Gouri Mili Chakma (35). Goswami was driving the auto-rickshaw, whereas the others had been passengers. The injured are Jatrapati Chakma (42) and Mayarani Debnath (55).
Hospital authorities later confirmed that two of the injured succumbed to their accidents throughout remedy, taking the dying toll to 4.
On receiving info, Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Police Officer Utpalendu Debnath and Kumarghat Police Station Officer-in-Cost Sanjay Das rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operation.
The truck driver fled the scene after the accident. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The offending automobile has been detained and authorized formalities are underway.
