Dibrugarh, Feb 3: A hardcore insurgent of the NSCN (Niki Sumi) faction surrendered earlier than safety forces in the Khonsa space of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.
The surrendered cadre has been recognized as Wangjong Wangsu (37), a self-styled Lieutenant of NSCN (Niki Sumi) and a resident of Longding district.
In line with an official assertion, safety forces acted on particular intelligence inputs concerning the presence of the insurgent in and across the Khonsa Bazaar space. A centered operation was launched on February 2, throughout which native sources have been activated to determine contact and persuade him to give up.
“Steady strain and sustained negotiations inspired the person to desert the trail of violence and return to the mainstream,” the official mentioned.
The efforts proved profitable, and Wangsu agreed to give up. He was subsequently taken into custody by a joint staff of 44 Assam Rifles and 26 FIT. Through the operation, safety forces recovered a .32 mm pistol with 4 rounds of ammunition, an appointment letter, and a walkie-talkie from his possession.
Officers mentioned the give up highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations mixed with a humane and persuasive method by safety forces.
The Assam Rifles, in coordination with different safety businesses, reiterated its dedication to sustaining peace and stability in the area and continues to encourage misguided youth to shun violence and rejoin the mainstream.
