A tusker ran amok in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, with three women dropping their lives and three others sustaining grievous accidents in an encounter with the elephant on Tuesday (February 10, 2026).
The incident occurred in Lochapalli village below Dhenkanal Sadar police limits, the place a number of women had gone to Patpuri Reserve Forest to gather firewood. Whereas they have been in the forest accumulating firewood, the tusker attacked them round midday.
Indumati Pradhan, Tuni Pradhan and Kuntala Pradhan have been trampled by the elephant, dropping their lives on the spot whereas Rashmita Pradhan, Rama Dehuri and Jhilli Pradhan have been rushed to hospital with essential accidents. The forest is an elephant motion route.
