The battle had left the group’s disciplined army items shattered into guerrilla forces, and most of its leaders killed; Gaza’s buildings and infrastructure had been largely destroyed, its inhabitants displaced, and its financial life in ruins. Greater than 72,000 Gazans had been killed by Israeli assaults in the course of the battle, the Hamas-run well being ministry says.
