The Supreme Court on Thursday granted common bail to movie director Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari V Bhatt, who have been arrested in a cheating case lodged by a Rajasthan-based physician, Ajay Murdia.
A bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi put aside the Rajasthan Excessive Court’s dismissal of their bail plea and requested the events to attempt to settle their dispute via mediation.
“It appears to us that the dispute essentially pertains to a commercial transaction, although the components of committing the offence of cheating, and many others, have been expressly talked about in the FIR. Be that as it could, it could be acceptable for the events to resolve the disputes via mediation. The common bail has been granted with the expectation that the appellants will attempt to make efforts for the amicable decision of the dispute,” the courtroom ordered.
Vikram Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari V Bhatt, have been arrested in December 2025, in reference to an FIR lodged at Bhupalpura Police Station in Udaipur on November 8 over a dispute concerning the making of the biopic on the lifetime of Murdia’s late wife, Indira. Murdia is the founding father of Indira IVF in Udaipur.
