Shillong: The Meghalaya Cabinet has accepted a Bill to upgrade the Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) in Shillong into a state university, officers stated on Wednesday.
The cabinet assembly, chaired by Chief Minister Conrad Ok Sangma on Tuesday night, cleared the Indian Institute of Public Health Shillong Bill, 2026, paving the way in which for the institute to award levels to public well being graduates and students.
The transfer is predicted to strengthen tutorial autonomy and place the institute as a centre of excellence for public well being analysis, and capability constructing of public well being research within the northeast, the officers stated.
The cabinet additionally granted a no-objection certificates (NOC) for furnishing, operation and upkeep work linked to the growth of infrastructure at Eco Resort, Nongkhlaw.
It additionally accepted the Meghalaya State Coverage for promotion of anganwadi employees to supervisors, geared toward enhancing profession development and strengthening the functioning of the Built-in Youngster Growth Companies (ICDS) framework within the state, they added.
