With Panama main 4-3, the skies opened up after Canadian reliever Matt Wilkinson struck out Jose Ramos.
The game was delayed by an hour because of rain earlier in the night time.
Canada fell behind in the sixth inning after a pair of errors helped Panama rating three runs in the body.
Wilkinson is about to face Edmundo Sosa when play returns.
Canada will ship Edouard Julien, Josh Naylor and Tyler O’Neill to the plate in the underside of the ninth.
