India targets $100 billion textile exports by 2030, focus on sustainability, FTAs

The textiles ministry has stepped up efforts to place India as a world textile hub, drawing up a roadmap to realize $100 billion in textile exports by 2030 with a focus on sustainability and free commerce agreements (FTAs).

Sustainability emerged as a key theme in the course of the two-day summit concluded Wednesday, with stakeholders highlighting the rising significance of traceability, recycling and compliance with international environmental requirements. Business representatives advisable adopting digital product passports, growing textile recycling ecosystems, and establishing simpler compliance norms for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Union Minister of textiles Giriraj Singh stated in his tackle that the sector’s development would rely on translating coverage discussions into motion on the state and district ranges.
