A number of months in the past, I introduced to my faculty group that this was going to be my final yr as a Ok-12 trainer.
Colleagues, directors, and college students alike all wished me to remain – very a lot so – which suggests, to me, that it’s a good time to go away. I didn’t need to be that trainer about whom individuals whispered “He ought to’ve retired a very long time in the past!”
I figured after 23 years as a trainer, 19 years as a group organizer, and seven years as a part of the Catholic Employee Motion, it was time to “hang-up my spikes” – so to talk.
So, what am I planning on doing throughout my retirement?
Fairly a number of issues (not so as of significance):
- Proceed penning this weblog for the foreseeable future, although, maybe, not with fairly as many posts.
- Proceed writing my Training Week column.
- Katie and I’ve another e-book to put in writing, aimed toward each ELL and non-ELL educators.
- Making an attempt my hand at writing fiction after that e-book is finished.
- Very sometimes main a coaching on Zoom for lecturers (let me know when you’re )
- Doing volunteer instructing at both our county’s jail or juvenile corridor (I’m within the course of of creating that dedication)
- Spending extra time with grandkids who are usually not residing domestically.
- Taking part in Pickleball a number of mornings every week, and basketball multiple night time every week.
- Studying the twenty books which were sitting on my nightstand, and watch the a number of streaming packages on my “Watch” listing.
- Spending time organizing opposition to the Trump regime.
- Having fun with time with my spouse, who retired a number of years in the past.
I can’t wait to see what this subsequent chapter in my life will deliver!
Within the meantime, although, there are nonetheless three-and-a-half months of faculty to show, and I believe I’m doing a fairly good job of bringing my finest to the classroom every day, and never testing early….
