An oil tanker and a container ship collided off the northeastern coast of England, in response to emergency responders, who scrambled to the scene on Monday morning. Preliminary photographs shared by the BBC confirmed fireplace and thick black smoke rising from the ships.
The British coast guard mentioned it was “coordinating the emergency response to stories of a collision between a tanker and cargo vessel off the coast of East Yorkshire,” and that an alarm was first raised at 9:48 a.m. native time.
Rescue helicopters have been in the space, and lifeboats have been deployed from quite a few stations alongside the coast, in addition to vessels with “firefighting functionality,” the coast guard mentioned in an announcement.
The Royal Nationwide Lifeboat Establishment, a charity that coordinates lifeboats round the British coast, mentioned there have been stories “that quite a few folks had deserted the vessels following a collision and there have been fires on each ships.”
Data from Marine Visitors, an internet site that tracks vessels, appeared to indicate the Stena Immaculate, a U.S. flagged oil tanker, and the Solong, a container ship crusing beneath the Portuguese flag, on an intersecting route surrounded by emergency response vessels simply off the coast of the mouth of the River Humber, close to Hull.
