United States civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson has died aged 84.
Jackson “died peacefully” on Tuesday morning, a press release from his household stated.
“His unwavering dedication to justice, equality, and human rights helped shake a worldwide motion for freedom and dignity,” the assertion continued.
“Our father was a servant leader – not solely to our household, however to the oppressed, the unvoiced, and the neglected around the globe,” the Jackson household stated.
The eloquent Baptist minister was raised within the segregated US South. He grew to become an in depth affiliate of Martin Luther King and twice ran for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Jackson was recognized with Parkinson’s illness in 2017.
He spent many years advocating for the rights of Black People and different minorities courting again to the turmoil of the civil rights motion of the Nineteen Sixties.
