Itanagar, Feb 21: High leaders of Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) are slated to meet state’s Home Minister Mama Natung on Friday to discuss the problem of Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Faith Act (APFRA), 1978.
The Home Minister earlier this week had urged the ACF to droop their agitation and requested them to meet him on Friday (February 21) within the state’s civil secretariat to discuss their calls for.
The ACF has been agitating in opposition to the implementation of the APFRA, 1978 claiming that the law, when carried out, would hurt the Christians within the state.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday urged the folks of the state not to ‘misread’ the APFRA, 1978, for which the foundations are being framed following the order of the Gauhati Excessive Courtroom.
As per the 2011 census Christian Inhabitants in Arunachal Pradesh is 4.19 lakh (30.26 per cent) of a complete inhabitants of 13.84 lakh.
The ACF on February 17 noticed an eight-hour-long starvation strike at NIIS Nyokum Floor in Borum in Naharlagun Circle to protest in opposition to the implementation of the APFRA, 1978.
