Bomb Threat At Kolkata’s Indian Museum Turns Out To Be Hoax

In the same incident, a bomb menace to the Indian Museum in Kolkata triggered a panic on Tuesday (April 1). In response, the safety personnel launched a search operation, which turned out to be a hoax, officers mentioned, PTI reported.

The Central Industrial Safety Pressure (CISF), which oversees the safety of the over 200-year-old museum, alerted the New Market police station, prompting a complete search operation. Sources revealed that the museum remained closed to the general public till police gave the all-clear.

Officers acknowledged that the museum had obtained an electronic mail warning of bombs being planted on the premises on Tuesday, though the message didn’t point out any particular areas.

“There are over 51 rooms within the museum, that are being searched by safety personnel. To this point, no suspicious object has been discovered,” a police officer acknowledged.
