Large operations throughout Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Kodagu & Hassan; Rs. 5.94 crore recovered
Mysuru: In a significant crackdown on electricity thefts, the Chamundeshwari Electricity Provide Company Restricted (CESC) Vigilance Staff has imposed a staggering Rs. 6.36 crore fine on these illegally tapping energy.
The operations, spanning 5 districts — Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Kodagu and Hassan — was carried out underneath the management of CESC Vigilance Superintendent of Police Savitha Hoogar. Throughout inspections carried out throughout 5,716 institutions, the CESC Vigilance Staff booked 1,312 circumstances of electricity theft and misuse. A complete of Rs. 6,36,72,607 was levied in fines, with Rs. 5,94,89,898 already recovered, together with earlier dues.
In a parallel effort, the Meter Inspection Division audited 23,014 institutions, detecting irregularities and imposing a further fine of Rs. 12,37,56,660.
Electricity theft is a legal offence underneath the Electricity Act and strict authorized motion might be taken towards violators, warned CESC Vigilance Division Govt Engineer C. Umesh and Deputy Superintendent of Police Anandamurthy.
CESC has warned that anybody discovered responsible of energy theft will face extreme authorized penalties. Residents are urged to report any situations of energy theft. Informants’ identities might be saved confidential.
