SHILLONG, FEB 11: The District Magistrate of East Jaintia Hills District Manish Kumar on Wednesday ordered the dismantling of lifting cranes and different equipment at the Mynsngat-Thangsko coal mine site following the explosion that killed over 30 employees.
The order, issued below Part 152 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, permits the dismantling of illegal obstructions, together with coal lifting cranes and tents, from the site of the latest explosion that claimed over 31 lives.
“The lifting cranes and others are creating public nuisance and are hazardous to the general public,” the order states, including that the equipment could also be used for unlawful coal extraction, which has been banned by the Nationwide Inexperienced Tribunal since 2014.
The dismantling course of will likely be carried out below the supervision of the Investigating Officer, with correct documentation and geo-tagging of the site.
The District Magistrate has directed the Superintendent of Police to make sure the order is executed instantly.
