Mysore/Mysuru: Environmentalists have severely condemned the authorities for felling greater than 10 absolutely grown trees in the premises of Aranya Bhavan in Ashokapuram for facilitating building of residential quarters.
The Forest Division has recognized a parcel of land adjoining to Sandalwood yard (Srigandha Kothi) in Aranya Bhavan premises for building of employees residential quarters.
On this backdrop, the Forest Division has felled greater than 10 trees grown in this parcel of land for facilitating building.
The environmentalists, upon coming to know of this, have severely objected to the Forest Division’s motion.
They are saying that the Forest Division, which advises the general public to develop trees and preserve ecology and setting, has achieved the alternative of what it preaches.
Additionally they argue that the Division might have taken up building, if in any respect it was completely wanted, by leaving out the absolutely grown trees.
