Shillong, Feb 19: Chief Minister Conrad Okay Sangma introduced that the Meghalaya Assembly session scheduled for Friday is likely to be postponed as a mark of respect to the late Shillong MP Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon, who handed away on Thursday night.
“We have now mentioned with Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Parliamentary Affairs Prestone Tynsong, and could have a gathering tomorrow with the Enterprise Advisory Committee (BAC) headed by the Speaker. A call will be taken tomorrow,” Sangma stated.
“I’ve communicated to the Deputy CM that it might be applicable for the federal government not to go forward with the proceedings of the Home tomorrow. Though tomorrow is the day we’re supposed to current the budget, it would make absolute sense and respect to the departed soul if we have been to postpone even the presentation of the budget,” he added.
Sangma expressed shock and grief over the sudden demise of Shillong MP Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon, recalling their latest assembly in Delhi the place they mentioned growth plans for Meghalaya.
“It’s a very surprising second for all residents of the state. I had met Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon about two weeks again in Delhi… we mentioned the general way forward for our state with out going to politics, and that was the final assembly and dialog I had with Dr Ricky Syngkon,” Sangma stated.
Sangma remembered Dr Syngkon’s dedication and keenness for the individuals of Khasi and Jaintia Hills, describing his loss as a “nice loss for the state”.
“I categorical my deepest condolences to the household of late Dr Ricky Syngkon and I pray to Almighty that he might give energy to the members of the family in addition to all his supporters, get together leaders to bear the large loss,” he added.
