Kozhikode-based experimental theatre group Aniyara, which is celebrating its golden jubilee, is observing World Theatre Day with a seminar on modern theatre in addition to the staging of three micro plays. The occasion will be held on the Kozhikode city corridor at 4.30 p.m. on Thursday.
Sreejith Ramanan, director of John Matthai Centre, Thrissur, will be the useful resource individual for the seminar.
Aniyara was based by theatre fans Ok.R. Mohandas, Paul Kallanode, Jayaprakash Karyal, Murali Menon, and the late T. Sudhakaran. Micro plays are a novel idea being launched by Aniyara on its golden jubilee to make theatre productions extra reasonably priced. These plays that don’t exceed quarter-hour in length are distinct from skits with their style being severe and socially related themes.
Three micro plays will be staged on Thursday. “Athmam” written by Paul Kallanode is in regards to the quest of the self by the vagaries of life to discover which means to creation. “Akasmikavadhikku Orapeksha” offers with one’s interior battle when one has to lose to achieve one thing in life. The play “Elevate” is in regards to the relevance of time as a compelling transformer and what occurs to those that are unable to maintain tempo.
Aniyara has staged a number of ground-breaking plays corresponding to “Vetta” and “Bharathavakyam” written by G. Sankara Pillai, “Thazhvara” by Paul Kallanode, “Innedath Innavan”, “Kanalattam”, and “Perumara” by the late P.M. Taj, “Namamathram Asokan” by Jayaprakash Kuloor, and “Prasavikkatha Amma” by the late Thikkodiyan.
