Politicising of educational institutions mustn’t be tolerated, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar stated Saturday after a protest banner from the Scholar Federation of India at the Calicut University upset him. The protest banner had a reference to the right-wing icon, V D Savarkar.
Arlekar, who, as chancellor of the college, was there for a Senate assembly Saturday, noticed the banner on campus. Put up there in for a earlier protest by the SFI – the coed wing of the state’s ruling Communist Get together of India (Marxist) — the banner stated: “We want a chancellor, not Savarkar”.
