Punjab on high alert after Operation Sindoor, public events cancelled, border villages begin evacuation

Following India’s Operation Sindoor, a number of districts in Punjab bordering Pakistan have been positioned on high alert. All public events have been cancelled as a precautionary measure to make sure public security, amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

Punjab Cupboard Minister Aman Arora acknowledged that the state shares a 532-kilometre-long worldwide border with Pakistan, making Punjab’s position critically vital throughout any army escalation. “All border districts have been put on high alert and the federal government has cancelled all public gatherings to safeguard the individuals,” Arora mentioned.

Punjab Police on full alert

Aman Arora emphasised that Punjab Police, performing because the second line of protection, is totally ready to assist the Indian Military. “Every time the unity, integrity, and safety of the nation are at stake, Punjabis are at all times on the forefront, even able to sacrifice their lives,” he added.

Villagers in border areas begin to relocate

As tensions rise, some residents of border villages in Firozpur district have begun relocating to safer areas, despite the fact that no official evacuation orders have been issued by the Border Safety Power, Indian Military, or authorities companies. Villagers cited issues for the security of ladies and kids as the first purpose for his or her voluntary motion.

Residents from villages reminiscent of Tendi Wala, Kalu Wala, Gatti Rajo Ke, Jhugge Hajara, Navi Gatti Rajo Ke, Gatti Rahime Ke, Chandiwala, Basti Bhane Wali, and Jallo have begun in search of refuge in safer areas.

Flights suspended, colleges closed

In Amritsar, the district administration has taken extra steps to handle the state of affairs. In line with the Director of Amritsar Airport, all home and worldwide flights have been suspended till 5:30 AM on Could 10. Following the Deputy Commissioner’s orders, all academic establishments within the district stay closed.
