The students showing for Class – 8 science board examination have been harassed Friday after three questions (of 5 marks every) have been “lacking” from the query paper. Academics mentioned that the Punjab College Schooling Board (PSEB) launched an “incomplete” query paper.

The three questions have been printed in English and Hindi languages however not in Punjabi which is the medium of instruction for majority students in Punjab.
After the error was seen that questions value 15 marks have been altogether lacking, the board ordered the on-duty invigilators to rapidly translate the questions from English and dictate them to students in Punjabi.
Calling it a “main blunder”, former Punjab schooling minister and Congress MLA Pargat Singh wrote on X: “A really critical administrative and technical failure has occurred in PSEB board exams. In school 8 science paper, 3 questions value 15 marks have been lacking from the Punjabi model, whereas Hindi and English variations had all 30 questions. This isn’t a small mistake however a transparent case of administrative negligence and discrimination towards the regional language.
Over 3 lakh students in Punjabi medium have suffered a lack of almost 19 per cent marks because of the error. Accountability have to be mounted and this neglect of Punjabi language have to be stopped instantly.”
In an announcement, the Democratic Academics Entrance (DTF) state president Vikramdev Singh mentioned: “Questions of solely 65 marks have appeared within the science topic paper of sophistication 8 students in Punjabi medium as an alternative of 80 marks. This reveals the shortage of seriousness of PSEB in the direction of selling Punjabi language. As a substitute of 30 questions, solely 27 questions have been printed, which precipitated rigidity among the many students. The PSEB is immediately chargeable for this.
