Tourism Division fails to supply work order, obligatory permissions
Mysore/Mysuru: Following publication of the report in yesterday’s Star of Mysore concerning the ‘quiet and hidden’ building works being carried out on the banks of Karanji Lake Nature Park, hooked up to Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, the Mysuru Zoo Government Director P. Anusha has directed the Tourism Division to halt the civil works associated to the proposed zipline venture on the Lake, stating that obligatory permission had not been obtained from Zoo authorities.
She stated, though Rs. 14 crore zipline venture, half of the full Rs. 18.36 crore tourism growth venture below the Centre’s Swadesh Darshan scheme had been accredited by Zoo Authority of Karnataka, the Tourism Division had not secured clearance from the Zoo to undertake bodily works inside the eco-delicate Lake utilizing earthmovers for excavation.
“Tourism Division has no clearance from the jurisdictional Zoo and there’s no safety approval. They haven’t even produced the work order, which is obligatory. Therefore, the works have been halted,” she stated.
Anusha added that solely curing of the already constructed concrete constructions for the zipline pillars can be permitted, and no contemporary work can be allowed.
It might be recalled that Star of Mysore had reported on the proposed zipline in yesterday’s version. Environmental activists have questioned the need of the venture, citing potential hurt to the Zoo and Karanji Lake Nature Park, each thought-about ecologically delicate biodiversity zones.
Zoo Authority of Karnataka Chairman Rangaswamy stated the zipline proposal had been positioned earlier than the Authority and cleared at one of its conferences two months in the past.
Tourism Division to resolve: Senior Tourism Division officers had been unavailable for remark. Whereas the Deputy Director is reportedly unwell and hospitalised, the Assistant Director and Assistant Government Engineer didn’t reply to repeated calls from Star of Mysore.
Nonetheless, an engineer, requesting anonymity, stated tenders for the venture had been invited and accredited, and that implementation was being dealt with by Karnataka Tourism Infrastructure Restricted (KTIL).
“Yesterday, the Zoo Government Director knowledgeable the Division over the cellphone to instantly cease the works as a consequence of clearance points. Consequently, now we have halted building, and solely the curing of the concrete pillar constructions is underway. Senior officers in Mysuru and Bengaluru will resolve the subsequent course of motion,” he stated.
