Law enforcement authorities are responding to shots that had been fired near the White House grounds, FBI Director Kash Patel stated.
Journalists working there Saturday reported listening to a collection of gunshots and had been advised to search shelter inside the press briefing room, the place U.S. Secret Service officers prevented them from leaving.
There have been no rapid reports of any accidents. On X, Secret Service stated it was “conscious of reports of shots fired near seventeenth Road and Pennsylvania Avenue NW” — one block from the White House — and was “working to corroborate the data with personnel on the floor.”
In a social media put up, FBI Director Kash Patel stated officers had been responding to shots fired and stated he would “replace the public as we’re ready.”
President Donald Trump was inside the White House at the time.
The Metropolitan Police Division didn’t instantly reply to requests for data.
