Washington Post publisher Will Lewis announces departure, following mass layoffs

Washington Post publisher and CEO Will Lewis is leaving the newspaper, it introduced on Saturday after finishing up widespread layoffs this week.

“Throughout my tenure, tough selections have been taken so as to make sure the sustainable way forward for The Post so it may well for a few years forward publish high-quality nonpartisan information to tens of millions of consumers every day,” Lewis wrote in a message to employees that was shared on-line by the newspaper’s White Home bureau chief, Matt Viser.

Jeff D’Onofrio, chief monetary officer of the newspaper owned by Jeff Bezos, will function performing publisher and CEO, the Post stated.

Lewis, a former Dow Jones chief government and publisher of The Wall Road Journal, was appointed to the position on the Washington Post in 2023. He took over from Fred Ryan, who had served as publisher and CEO for almost a decade.
