George Pickens’ time with the Dallas Cowboys is about to proceed.
The Cowboys will place the franchise tag on the star receiver, ESPN’s Todd Archer reported.
The tag could be utilized between Feb. 17 and March 3, and would give Pickens $28 million assured subsequent season, per Over the Cap. By inserting the tag, the Cowboys could have till July 15 to work out a long-term deal.
Pickens is coming off the perfect season of his profession after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers final low season, posting highs of 93 catches, 1,429 yards and 9 touchdowns en route to being named to his first Professional Bowl.
Talking to reporters on the NFL scouting mix, Cowboys vice chairman Stephen Jones made it clear that the objective is to maintain the wideout long-term.
“We wish Pickens right here,” Jones mentioned. “We expect the world of him. Love him, and I feel he desires to be right here. So all that is a plus.”
