Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos reported Friday that Toronto provided Easton Cowan, Fraser Minten and two first-rounders to Carolina in change for Rantanen. The Hurricanes selected to just accept the Stars’ package deal round Logan Stankoven, valuing him greater.
However, based on a number of sources, Carolina had one other goal.
The Hurricanes initially asked for Mitch Marner in return for Rantanen. As a result of it was for Rantanen, the Maple Leafs needed to take into account it.
