The Division of Telecom is inspecting functions of Amazon Kuiper for satcom providers whereas it has rejected requests acquired for a similar from Tata Group agency Nelco and Hiranandani Group firm Yotta Community, Parliament was knowledgeable on Thursday.
Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha stated within the final 5 years, Nelco Ltd, Yotta Community Companies, OneWeb India Communications, JIO Satellite tv for pc Communications, Starlink Satellite tv for pc Communications, Amazon Kuiper Companies India and Connect4sure Applied sciences have utilized for satellite tv for pc communication providers.
“The functions of Nelco Ltd and Yotta Community Companies Pvt Ltd have been rejected, whereas Connect4sure Applied sciences Pvt Ltd has withdrawn its utility. The appliance of Amazon Kuiper Companies India Pvt Ltd is beneath examination,” Pemmasani stated.
He stated DoT has issued unified licence (UL) with authorisation for GMPCS (World Cell Private Communication by Satellite tv for pc) service to OneWeb India Communications Pvt Ltd, JIO Satellite tv for pc Communications Ltd, and Starlink Satellite tv for pc Communications Pvt Ltd.
The minister stated satellite-based communication providers can present connectivity in rural, underserved and unserved areas, together with distant, coastal, border and mountainous areas of the nation, which in any other case are tough to be lined by terrestrial media akin to optical fiber, microwave, and so forth.
