Srinagar, June 15: Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir-ul-Islam, on Monday introduced that the month of Muharram-ul-Haram (Islamic New Yr) will start in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
The Grand Mufti stated that the crescent moon for Muharram-ul-Haram was not sighted from any a part of Jammu and Kashmir.
“As no credible moon sighting experiences have been acquired from any a part of the Union Territory, the first of Muharram-ul-Haram will likely be noticed on Wednesday, June 17, 2026,” he stated.
Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir-ul-Islam, prolonged his greetings to the Muslim Ummah on the graduation of the Islamic New Yr, praying for peace, prosperity, concord and well-being of the individuals.
