New Delhi: The Meals Security and Requirements Authority of India (FSSAI) has taken enforcement motion in opposition to a Gujarat-based producer of ‘alkaline water’ after inspections revealed misbranding, labelling violations, and using a non-permitted ingredient, the regulator stated on Thursday.
The motion, initiated by FSSAI’s western regional workplace, adopted a shopper grievance filed by way of the Meals Security Join portal.
The grievance flagged the Meals Enterprise Operator’s (FBO) failure to handle grievances, prompting a post-licence inspection of the corporate’s manufacturing unit in Savli, Vadodara.
Inspectors discovered that the product identify was absent from the entrance of the packaging, ingredient declarations had been lacking, and black particles had been seen contained in the completed product, the FSSAI stated in a press release.
Additional technical scrutiny uncovered further crimson flags – unexplained blackish-brown discolouration, the presence of sediments, and contradictory descriptions between the first and secondary packaging.
Regulatory officers subsequently seized shares price roughly Rs 31.61 lakh and initiated formal proceedings below the Meals Security and Requirements (FSS) Act, 2006.
Laboratory evaluation later confirmed the presence of fulvic acid – a substance not permitted below FSSAI rules.
Investigations established that the ingredient had been launched by way of the addition of black mineral substances and was not naturally current within the uncooked or processed water, confirming a transparent violation of meals security norms.
