Summer rains drench paddy and maize

Unseasonal rain coupled with gusty winds lashed elements of Karimnagar, Peddapalli and Rajanna Sircilla districts on Tuesday (Could 26, 2026) evening, drenching paddy and maize produce of many farmers, including to their woes.

A sudden spell of summer season rain dealt a blow to a number of farmers in Bommakal of Karimnagar rural mandal as their paddy saved on the procurement centre bought soaked, leaving them distressed.

Related incidents had been reported from numerous elements of the mixed Karimnagar district as premature rains performed havoc with farmers drenching their grains shares virtually on the fag-end of the procurement season. The distraught farmers sought quick steps to expedite paddy procurement and purchase rain-soaked paddy forthwith.

“If the present dispensation is incapable of procuring paddy from farmers, the Chief Minister ought to write a letter to the Centre,” he mentioned, questioning why the State authorities is unable to obtain paddy swiftly when the Centre is bearing all bills of the paddy procurement course of.”
