New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cupboard has prolonged the tenure of incumbent AYUSH Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha by one-year till June 28, 2027.
In line with a notification issued by the Division of Personnel and Coaching (DoPT), Kotecha will proceed to go the division for the prolonged tenure on present phrases and circumstances till additional orders. His tenure was set to run out this month.
That is the fifth extension for the senior official, who joined the AYUSH Ministry in 2017 via the lateral entry route as a Particular Secretary.
Beforehand, he was given two two-year extensions in 2020 and 2022, adopted by two one-year extensions in 2024 and 2025.
Kotecha, an ayurveda doctor accomplished his poist-graduation from the Jamnagar-based Gujarat Ayurved College, and later served as its Vice-Chancellor between 2013 and 2016.
In 1998, he based the Chakrapani Ayurveda Clinic and Analysis Centre in Jaipur.
Earlier than beginning his bureaucratic stint, he served as an member of the Advisory Panel to the Central Council of Indian Drugs, of the then Division of AYUSH, later elevated to an impartial ministry in November 2014.
In 2015, Kotecha obtained Padma Shri within the drugs class for his contributions in the direction of the propagation and growth of Ayurveda.
