A nor’wester swept throughout Kolkata and adjoining districts on Wednesday night, bringing reduction from the new and humid situations prevailing over the previous few days.
The India Meteorological Division (IMD) had forecast extreme thunderstorm exercise accompanied by lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds over elements of Kolkata, Howrah, North and South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur and Hooghly districts.
Darkish clouds engulfed the sky over Kolkata and adjoining areas as strong winds and rain, together with thunder, compelled folks indoors. Temperatures dropped sharply, offering respite from the warmth.
The Met workplace stated the southwest monsoon, which has already superior into sub-Himalayan West Bengal, is predicted to cowl the remaining elements of the State in the following three to 4 days.
The IMD has forecast very heavy rain in the north Bengal districts of Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar and in Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Cooch Behar districts until Friday morning and heavy rain thereafter in all these districts until June 14.
