Security forces have requested village authorities and civil society in Manipur’s Ukhrul to sensitise youths to not get carried away by violent incidents in different districts, as they carried out a combing operation a day after three folks have been killed in a gun assault in Kangpokpi.
“To stop any spillover of current violence in Kotlen, safety forces undertook a combing operation on Saturday in areas round Litan, Mahadev and Sinakeithel” and freeway areas in Tangkhul Naga-majority Ukhrul district which shares boundaries with Kuki-majority Kangpokpi district,” police mentioned in an announcement.
The event got here within the wake of the killing of three civilians in a gun assault at Loibol Khullen village in Kangpokpi district on Friday (June 5, 2026).
Police mentioned villages of each communities have been patrolled collectively, and bunkers have been traced and dismantled.
“Village authorities and civil society organisations have been approached for his or her important help and have been assured of the presence of safety forces within the space to keep at bay any threats”, it mentioned.
“They have been additionally requested to sensitise their youths not to get carried away by incidents in different areas and take pleasure in violence close to their villages,” police mentioned.
