Rs. 5 crore estimate ready for complete renovation
Mysore/Mysuru: The College of Mysore (UoM) has submitted a proposal to the State Authorities looking for Rs. 4 crore to Rs. 5 crore for the excellent renovation of Gautham Hostel in Saraswathipuram.
The hostel, which has supplied lodging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe college students for greater than 5 many years, is probably going to endure its first main renovation since its institution. Gautham Hostel was inaugurated on July 28, 1973, by the then Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs within the presence of the then Social Welfare Minister M. Mallikarjun Swamy.
Through the years, the hostel has accommodated 300 to 400 college students yearly and has supported 1000’s of college students in pursuing increased schooling.
Many former residents of the hostel have gone on to grow to be civil servants, professors, writers, Cops, social thinkers and politicians on the State and nationwide ranges.
The proposed renovation contains repairs and upgrading of the hostel construction, bathrooms and bogs, underground drainage and electrical methods, kitchen and eating corridor, flooring of rooms, institution of a studying room, portray and total refurbishment of the premises.
College Registrar M.Ok. Savitha has written to the Social Welfare Minister, Chief Secretary and senior Authorities officers looking for fast monetary help for the mission.
Responding positively to the request, Social Welfare Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa directed Public Works Division (PWD) officers to examine the hostel and put together an estimate for the renovation work. Following the inspection, officers have submitted a preliminary estimate of round Rs. 4 crore to Rs. 5 crore.
In accordance to College Scholar Welfare Officer Dr. C. Gurusiddaiah, the Minister has assured that the estimated quantity can be sanctioned for the mission below the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) grants.
